Author's Notes: In this chapter I have broken pattern and not resolved the vision that begin it. This was to have space for the porn- I hope you don't mind too much, gentle reader. The next chapter, which does resolve the vision, will be posted within a few days.

This is kind of a reaction to the recent racefail! and the various reactions to it as well as the reactions to the reactions that I have been reading and reading and trying to shut up and listen to, but not commenting on because 1) I'm always kind of late to the party because of my schedule 2) I went to college, but I've been out of academia for 20 years and currently unpracticed at that type of critical thinking and writing and 3) I'm a white woman married to a dude who makes far more money than we need- we live in the suburbs and while I run into the occasional idiot who thinks stereotypically about women and expresses it loudly, mostly my day does not involve experiencing oppression of any sort (I in fact see and hear much more of that type of thing happening to and about people around me instead). I am pretty damned privileged and I have always been.

But to really say what I want to, I have to backtrack to my personal beginning in fandom:

I've been working on the next chapter of Little Birdies since B and Fitzy still aren't talking to me, and you know, writing threesome sex is hard- like really time consuming and life draining. The sex scene got so long I decide to split the chapter in two. The first half (chapter 4) is 3,400 words and 1,700 of that is the sex- and they're not done- David hasn't even come yet. They are making me crazy.

I've got almost 800 words in the second half (chapter 5) and they're trying to go at it again (Never mind the poor woman in the vision who's waiting to get saved by these people). This is the characterization- how is this the characterization? I officially hate/love this fic. I'm just saying.

Done complaining- will post chapter 4 soon, I hope.

Author's Notes: I've been telling people I'm working on Shake Your Tree and I have been, however when I first tried to get back to it, I couldn't really get Brantley to talk to me, so I took a left turn at Albuquerque and wrote a little bit of B's father's point of view. This is not going to be part of the story proper, so I figured I'd share it until I can get the next proper chapter together.

I know I should really be going back to one of my older fics and updating, but this one was rolling around in my head last night and I had to put it down.

The set-up: In a long post-apocalyptic world in which the world is in a near permanent winter, a wanderer comes to a place he didn't know was already home. It's original and slashy. It's PG now, but will prolly end up R-NC-17.

I have now copied to Dreamwidth all of my Lacie Dorn fic (including my novel- it's only two posts with the huge post length on DW) and a portion of the stuff I wrote as part of New Dawn RPG under the name Papers of Light. I'm doing this thing where I convert the RPG into a fic universe to play with. It's interesting, even if there are probably zero people who'd like to read a post-apocalyptic crossover of Psych, Disney's Atlantis and Noah's Arc. I like it.

Also, people are making a standard practice of writing out their cross-posting/comments and friending/access/subscriptions policies for Dreamwidth and LJ. So, here's mine:

I'm going to cross-post everything to this journal (all three of them) and I'm not disabling comments. On LJ I try to friend back anyone who friends me (comment if I've missed you) and on DW I'm not granting access to anyone since the only things I flock are things I want to keep for my eyes only.

Have indexed and checked links on maybe half of my fic. Everything written as Camlia Waite or Wendy Never is now available here.

Papers of light, Lacie Dorn, Stinkybubbles and the few Jinx32 and indelible fancy fics are waiting because the import tool is still being poked at by Dreamwidth and I'd have to get them all by hand.

If I'm smart, I'll never pick a new name again- sheesh.

I am what you'd call ambivalent about my writing. For the most part I like doing it and I feel that it is of benefit to me to keep on doing it. At times, however, I fall down deep in depression and usually end up abandoning things I have built up like writing journals and comms and online friendships. That is what happened to me here. I have done this a bunch of times and will probably do it again.

I now will apologize to anyone I worried or hurt or annoyed when I left so abruptly: I'm sorry. You have been great- everyone who has ever friended me or commented here has been very cool to me. I'm the one with the weird internet/writing issues. I'll try and work on it.

That said, anyone who is still interested in my stuff will be able to find my new stories (and a bunch of my old ones from other pennames/sockpuppets) over on my new dreamwidth account. I'm Wendynever over there. I'm still setting up, but I intend to get as much of my stuff together there as I can.

1) Caught up on my NaNoWriMo wordcount just in time to start falling behind again because we're hosting T day in a week and a half for 16 people.

2) My car old car went psycho- seriously, I'm driving in the pouring rain and the wipers go all wacky and dancing to their own beat that is nothing like their normal function, Then the window washing fluid starts squirting constantly on it's own and neither one will shut off via their switches. I had to pull off the road and shut the car off to get them to stop. It was just like a Herbie movie, only with less fun and more Oh God I can't see out the windshield, hope I don't hit something! So, dear devoted hubby took it to the dealer for service and they found water inside the dashboard and the computer in there. Also, cracked transmission. So:

3) I got a new car! His name is Pepe and he's a pretty green Saturn Ion.

No fandom stuff for now- maybe December. (Although I did put a couple hundred more words onto my Johnny/Walt fic when my novelmuse! was taking a break. The chapter still isn't ready.)

Now I can go to bed and dream of Wright/Reyes celebratory rps- mmm pretty boys covered in sweat and champagne.

I. Jericho is out of my viewing schedule for sure now because last night's episode was more than I could take. Even Skeet's dimples couldn't save it.
II. Still gonna give Vanished another chance because um - Eddie Cibrian- So yummy.
III. Hoping the new Doctor Who will grow on me (he didn't entirely suck in the first two episodes.
IV. BSG coming back- about fraking time.
V. Still hanging with Studio 60 even though it isn't up to other Sorkin I've loved- there is so much possibility there. Plus Amanda.

Also,

Considering another character for New Dawn- Audrey Ramirez from the Disney version of Atlantis (icons in the previous post).

Here's nine reasons why:

1) the game needs women
2) the game has no Hispanics (two blacks, two Asians, two homosexuals, a werewolf, a vampire or two, a telekinetic, several telepaths/empaths, but no Hispanics unless you count Shawn Spencer, but that's not addressed in canon, even though JRR is Hispanic)
3) the game needs a mechanic (at least there's been a request for one)
4) there is actually a good canon reason for her to still appear exactly the same even though she'd be 110 years old in 2006, but I can easily make her completely mortal from this point on which would be good- mortal but a mechanical genius
5) she don't take nothing from nobody
6) since I linked up Henry and Noah (which I do like) I'm limited to playing both of them in the same place a lot, Audrey could be anywhere I want
7) she's almost as obscure as Noah (maybe more) which I like
8) her character has experience dealing with paranormal phenomenon
9) she's cute as hell

And one reason why not:

I'm writing NaNoWriMo this year under my real name, with my hubby and sister and best friend all trying as well. Time will soon be a precious commodity. I could always wait Audrey for December, I guess. (I have to wait until October 15th to even apply for a new character anyway.)
